This can be a difficult but necessary step to take. You already identified the problems; now it is time to explore solutions in a nonjudgmental space. It may be uncomfortable at times, because we are not accustomed to discussing private details of our lives with strangers. Be assured, your counselor is a trained professional who will help guide you to the solutions that work best with your individualized goals and values. As the client, your responsibility is to attend sessions with an open mind, do any homework between sessions, and persevere.

Yes! We can learn a lot about ourselves in a group structure. Just think of how much you have learned about yourself in the workplace or in school when you interact with different people. There is also a lot to be gained by offering your wisdom and support to others who are in need.
All sessions are currently online. As a client, all you need is an internet connection and a private location.
Sessions must be cancelled by clients with a 48-hour notice, unless there is an emergency or unforeseen circumstances, otherwise the full session fee will be due. If the counselor cancels a session, every effort will be made to reschedule within 48 hours.
There are many differences, but the most important ones to note for our practice is that therapy will focus on diagnosable mental health issues such as Depressive Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and others. Our focus will be on symptom reduction and improving quality of life. We may additionally work on personal and professional goals that are identified along the way. Coaching, on the other hand, will be more suited to individuals who have specific goals to advance their lives and their major barrier is NOT a mental illness. Clients who are in need of counseling but do not reside in NY or VA will be provided with referrals and resources and are encouraged to reach back out for coaching as an adjunct to their other treatments.
